Black Panther Inspired Newborn Studio Pictures

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know my style is generally pretty minimalistic, with clean and simple outfits, backdrops, and decor. Generally, I don’t do much themed, however, when my friend Meg booked her newborn session for her little guy earlier this year, she mentioned she had a fun outfit she wanted to bring. These Black Panther Inspired Newborn Studio Pictures were the end result.

With everything that happened in 2020, it was important for her to create something that would make her son feel proud of his skin color as he grows up. Add on being big Marvel fans and even bigger Black Panther fans, when she saw this outfit she knew right away this was what she wanted. And how could I deny that? It may have been a themed outfit, but it’s still right in line with my style. And since I’m a big Marvel fan myself, it was a given we used the outfit.

I found this perfect starry background from Hello Little Props that I immediately knew was the right fit for the outfit. And I couldn’t be happier or more proud of these pictures.

Of course, we also did some other setups. My little newborn bed for example, is one of my all-time favorite newborn props and one that most parents say they want to use for their newborn pictures at our San Diego Photography Studio. It’s a hit and I can’t seem to get away from using it. But I don’t mind, it’s so adorable and I’ll use it forever and always.

We also did some wrapped shots on the star backdrop from Hello Little Props, as well as some simple, classic newborn poses on white and green fabric. Baby C slept so well during his session that he let me get through my sets in a quick and efficient matter. Isn’t he just adorable??? Most newborn sessions last between 2-3 hours with a sleepy baby and parent poses.

We also did some classic parent poses at the end of the newborn session. These are some of my favorites. I know some moms don’t enjoy being in the pictures after giving birth. Not being used to their new body, feeling tired etc. However, I believe these images are so important to have to look back on, both for parents but also for the babies.

When it comes down to it, you won’t notice the bags under your eyes (because I’ll remove them) or notice that your body may look different than you’re used too (I also use flattering angles when shooting). All you’ll see is you holding your precious little newborn baby during their newborn pictures. And when they’re screaming teenagers, you’ll treasure all of these memories, believe me!
