Most women can list everything they’d change about themselves in a photo. An empowerment session is the opposite. It’s a guided studio portrait session in downtown Anoka, MN, for any woman at any age, size or season of life, built to show you the way the people who love you already see you. There’s no occasion required, and no experience in front of a camera either. I direct every pose so you can focus on how you want to feel.

An empowerment session runs about 60 to 90 minutes and is yours to shape. You choose the looks and tell me what you want to see, and I handle the direction, the light and the posing for your body, whatever its shape.

It’s a portrait session that’s only about you, not your role as a mom, partner or employee. Women book them for all kinds of reasons.

What an empowerment session costs in the Twin Cities
An empowerment session at Studio Freyja starts with a $300 session fee, which reserves your date and goes toward your products. It covers your consultation, a 60 to 90 minute session and your ordering appointment on Zoom. Most clients invest about $2,500 in their portraits.

From first message to framed print, in four steps

Book and plan
Your session fee reserves your date. Then we meet for a consultation to review outfits and plan your session.

Your session
About 60 to 90 minutes at the studio or outdoors, with every pose directed for you.

Your ordering appointment
About a week after your session, we meet on Zoom to see your images together and choose what you’ll keep.

Gallery and products
Your digital gallery is ready within 3 weeks of your session. Products take 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the time of year.

Elegant, bold or boudoir-inspired
An empowerment session can be anything from a polished portrait in your favorite dress to something softer and more intimate. Boudoir-inspired looks are welcome if you want them, and never expected if you don’t. You decide how much you share, and the session is built around what makes you feel strongest.

Do I have to be a certain age or size?
No. This session is for every woman, at any age, size or background. I’ll direct poses that work for your body and light that flatters it.
Can my session include boudoir?
Yes, if you want it. Boudoir-inspired looks can be part of your session, and we plan exactly what you’re comfortable with at your consultation. Some women choose a mix of polished portraits and something more intimate. It’s entirely up to you.
I’m nervous in front of the camera. Is that okay?
Almost everyone is. I guide every pose, from your hands to the tilt of your chin, and we take it slowly. By the second look, the hardest part is usually behind you.
Do you edit the photos?
Yes. Every image you choose is retouched by hand for skin, light and color, so you look natural and like yourself.
