Best Locations for San Diego Family Photos
The days are long but the years are short. I never understood that saying until I had my own baby. The days can seem long sometimes, but I’m not sure what happened to the past three months because they flew by. Baby M is already big and has changed much since we had him. I can only imagine how it’ll feel when he’s a year old and starting to walk and talk. Or when he’s a crazed toddler who’s climbing up the walls at home. Or his first day of school… ooff, my mama heart is already aching thinking about it.
That’s why family photos are so important and why I love being a San Diego Family Photographer. Because I get to freeze moments in time for moms and dads all over San Diego. I have the honor of capturing their babies as they grow up and change, so they have pictures to always remember how small they once were. Because as much as we want to, our memories will fade. But the family pictures will always remain.

#2 Mission Trails Regional Park
Mission Trails Regional Park is by far my favorite park to visit in San Diego. It has trails and hikes fit for every family and fitness level. It’s one of the reasons we bought a home in San Carlos and why my Photography Studio is located right next door. It has so much variety as well, and is the perfect place to bring energetic toddlers for family pictures.

#3 Balboa Park
If you live in San Diego, or if you’re visiting San Diego, then Balboa Park is most definitely on your list of places to go. With its gorgeous architecture, restaurants and museums there is so much to do. And what’s more, it’s also one of the Best Locations for San Diego Family Photos, of course, or it wouldn’t have made the list.
I love grabbing some family photos by the stunning Organ Pavilion and then walking over to the Spanish Village for a pop of color. And then end the session with some family pictures using the stunning architecture as your backdrop. The walkways with their pillars create beautiful leading lines, just like at the Organ Pavilion.

#4 Torrey Pines – Sunset Seat
Torrey Pines is best known for its stunning views of the ocean, its stony beach, and its popular hiking trail. But did you know that on the other side of the hiking trails, across the big parking lot towards Del Mar, is a location called the Sunset Seat? This little gem is less populated, with equally stunning views, but easier access for family pictures. I don’t always go to Torrey Pines for family pictures, but when I do, you’ll find me at Sunset Seat. It’s most definitely one of the Best Locations for San Diego Family Photos.

#5 Leo Carrillo Ranch
If you’re up in North County, then I would recommend Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad for your family pictures. This little ranch is a popular destination for families but has so much to offer for family photo sessions as well. Although I do believe they now charge a fee for photography, it’s well worth a visit and the fee to capture your beautiful family photos at such a unique location.
