From the initial consultation to the final product delivery, a lot happens to ensure a successful and enjoyable photoshoot. Let me take you behind the scenes and provide some insight into what a typical Maternity Portrait Session Workflow looks like. 

Maternity Portrait Session Workflow | Pre-Session Preparation

Preparing for your San Diego Maternity Photoshoot starts with a quick pre-session consultation; either over Zoom, in person, or over the phone. We will connect to discuss your vision, preferences, and any specific requests you might have. During the consultation, we’ll go over wardrobe options, location choices, and posing ideas to ensure that every aspect of the photoshoot aligns with your expectations and desires.

Once the details are finalized, I’ll assist you in selecting the perfect outfits that complement your style and showcase your baby bump in the most flattering way. Whether you choose elegant dresses, flowy tops, or casual-chic ensembles, my goal is to make you feel confident and beautiful throughout the photoshoot.

The Day of your Maternity Photo Session in San Diego

On the day of the photoshoot, I’ll prepare the studio to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for you and your family.

This includes; arranging lighting equipment, backdrops, and props to ensure optimal conditions for capturing stunning maternity portraits. Set the temperature to a comfortable level so you won’t be cold or sweaty. And I’ll restock the beverage fridge and snack station so you have easy access to refreshments throughout your session.

As you arrive at the studio, I’ll greet you warmly and review the plan for the day, including the order of outfits, poses, and any specific shots they want to capture.

If you’ve added professional Hair and Makeup to your session you’ll start in the makeup chair and spend about an hour being pampered by my professional stylists. After that’s complete, we’ll start with the first outfit of the day and go from there.

Creating a relaxed and supportive atmosphere is essential for building trust and rapport, allowing you to feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.

Guided Maternity Posing

Are you concerned that you won’t know how to pose during your maternity session? Maybe you feel awkward in front of the camera or worried you won’t look your best as you don’t feel like yourself. Don’t worry, one of the things I offer here at Studio Freyja is guided maternity poses so you will look and feel like a goddess.

I will help guide you through a series of poses and expressions allowing us to capture a diverse range of images that reflects your personality and style. From classic maternity poses to candid moments of laughter and affection, my goal is to capture the beauty and joy of this special time in your life.

Having said that, a maternity session can be quite the workout. Between posing, changing outfits, and moving from set to set it can get pretty tiring. So as we go through your maternity session, we’ll take plenty of breaks for drinks and snacks. The studio is stocked with all the goodies to keep that energy and blood sugar at an even and enjoyable level.

After your maternity session

After the session is completed, we’ll review your images together. You’ll be able to view a range of beautiful products to showcase your maternity portraits, from prints and albums to wall art and digital galleries. Seeing your images come to life in a tangible form can be a magical moment. I take pride in delivering exceptional quality and service every step of the way. I am here to guide you through the process so you can fully enjoy and experience your portraits instead of having them get lost on a computer.
