How to have a Successful Maternity Photoshoot: Top Tips for Expecting Moms
Pregnancy is a time of joy, anticipation, and a whole lot of changes. A lot is happening in a rather short period of time. Capturing this magical period with a maternity photoshoot is a wonderful way to preserve these personal memories. As an experienced maternity photographer with a photo studio in San Diego I wanted to share some of my Top Tips for a Successful Maternity Photoshoot.
How Do You Take Good Pictures When Pregnant?
Embrace Your Glow
First things first, embrace that pregnancy glow! Trust me, you’re radiating more than you think. Being an experienced maternity photogarpher I know how to capture that natural beauty. However, a little prep can go a long way, and you deserve to treat yourself. Hydrate well, get a good night’s sleep, and maybe indulge in a little pampering session beforehand.
Choose Comfortable Outfits
Comfort is key. Opt for outfits that not only look great but also make you feel fabulous. Flowy dresses, stretchy fabrics, and flattering cuts are your best friends. And remember, it’s not just about the outfit – accessories can also add a personal touch. You can either buy your own maternity outfit, rent a dress, or use outfits from my curated Client Closet. Whichever route you choose, I guarantee you’ll look stunning!
What Month of Pregnancy Is Best for a Successful Maternity Photoshoot?
Timing is Everything
28-32 weeks of pregnancy
The sweet spot for maternity photos is usually between 28 and 32 weeks. At this stage, your belly has a beautiful round shape, and you’re still comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the session. A maternity photoshoot can be quite the workout.
Of course, every pregnancy is different, so listen to your body and schedule the shoot when you feel your best. If you’re expecting multiples, scheduling your maternity shoot even earlier is a good idea. And if you’re prone to early deliveries from previous pregnancies, take that into account as well.
You want to reach out to your photographer at the beginning of your second trimester to schedule your shoot.
Do Maternity Photographers Provide Clothing?
