Portraits made to live on your walls

Two framed maternity portraits of a couple and a mother in a red gown, hung above a wooden nursery crib

Start with the wall

Where will your portraits live?

Before we talk outfits or dates, I’ll ask you something most photographers never do: where in your home do you want to see yourself? Above the bed? Down the hallway? In an album on the coffee table that your children pull out on their own?

Every session here is planned backwards from the finished piece. You’re not booking a photo shoot. You’re creating art for your home, and it starts with picturing the wall.

Wall art

One statement piece changes a room

A large portrait above the sofa or bed does something a phone never will: it greets you every single morning. Canvas has a soft, classic finish. Acrylic is crisp and luminous, with a modern edge. Pieces range from 10×10 to 30×40.

Imagine your kids walking past it on the way to breakfast, years from now.

Ideas for your home

Which wall is yours?

A few starting points. Keep the one that makes you pause, and bring it to your consultation.

Framed maternity portrait displayed above a sofa in a cabin-style living room

The statement. One 30×40 above the bed or sofa.

Three black-framed motherhood portraits of a mother and her young daughter in black dresses, hung on a living room wall

The story. Three 16×24s down a hallway, read like chapters.

Framed maternity portrait of a couple holding hands in a grassy field, on a wooden shelf beside a teddy bear and a wooden teething ring

The quiet one. A 10×10 on a nursery shelf or nightstand.

Linen acrylic album with matching box with a maternity portrait print of a woman in a draped gown on the cover, open box and USB drive beside it
Linen photo albums in cream, blue and grey, stacked and open to a portrait spread
Cream linen album box open to show a USB drive and a small print of a family portrait, on a soft peach background

Albums

The book your children will reach for

An album tells your session in order: the first nervous smile, the laugh that came halfway through, the quiet frame at the very end. Linen-covered and made to be handled, it lives on the coffee table and never needs a charger.

Albums come in 8×12 and 12×12. Start thinking now: which moment would you want on the very first page?

Matted prints

A box of prints to share and swap

Fine prints in mats, gathered in a keepsake box. Frame a few now, rotate them with the seasons, or slip one into a card for your mother. They’re the piece that quietly travels furthest.

Folio box holding a maternity portrait print on a side table beside a teacup and a white rose in a living room
Pale pink folio box tied with a champagne ribbon, with a maternity portrait print on the lid, on a dusty rose background

If there are photos you are really concerned about, create a physical instance of them. Print them out.

Before you book

Your planning homework

Women who plan their wall before the session love their portraits most, because we photograph with the finished piece in mind. Here’s how to start.

Walk your home

Find the wall you look at most: above the sofa, the bed, the stairs. That’s where your statement piece belongs.

Snap the wall

Take a straight-on photo of it and note roughly how wide it is. Bring it to your consultation and we’ll plan the size together.

Picture your album

Think about the story you want to tell, and which moment you’d want on the first and last page.

Think beyond your walls

Grandparents, sisters, your own mother. Matted prints make the most treasured gifts.

Investment

What most clients invest

Every session starts with a $300 session fee. It reserves your date and covers your consultation, your 60 to 90 minute session and your ordering appointment. The session fee is separate from your collection. Most clients invest about $2,500 in their portraits, and many invest more once they picture a full wall and an album side by side. I send the full price guide when you inquire, so you can plan your wall and your album with real numbers.

Your ordering appointment

Choosing your art, together

About a week after your session we meet on Zoom. I share my screen, you see your portraits for the first time, and we match them to the walls and the album you’ve been planning. No guessing at sizes alone, no gallery link that sits unopened.

Meeting on Zoom means evenings work, your partner can join from anywhere, and you can take your time. Your artwork arrives in 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the time of year.

Questions

A few more questions

Canvas or acrylic: which is right for me?

Canvas has a soft, matte texture and a classic feel. Acrylic is glossy and vivid, with real depth, and suits a more modern room. At your ordering appointment we look at both with your images.

How big should my wall art be?

A common rule of thumb is about two-thirds the width of the furniture below it. Bring a photo of your wall and its rough width to your consultation and we’ll plan it together.

How much do clients usually spend?

Most clients invest about $2,500, session fee included, and that’s a typical starting point, not a ceiling. A statement piece for the living room, an album for the coffee table and prints for the grandparents add up, and many women decide this is exactly where they want to invest. These are heirlooms you’ll live with every day, so plan for the pieces you truly want. You’ll get the full price guide when you inquire.

When will my artwork arrive?

Products take 4 to 6 weeks after your ordering appointment, depending on the time of year.

Why is the ordering appointment on Zoom?

It gives you more choice of times, including evenings, and lets a partner join from anywhere. You still see every portrait with me and get help choosing.

Do I get digital images too?

Yes, collections include digital images for sharing. They’re the extra; the art on your walls is the point.
